I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:

10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger

It's a tough scale.

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
  • Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
  •  Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
  • Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
  • Be a competitive Master's runner

Personal:

Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.

Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism.

Mon - ran/walked w/ P from homestead to Calvin Smith where soccer was full force, ran around peri 4 times, then back w/ P "Turnaround" on canal road 45 min 3 miles, still not quite enjoyable for either of us to go running but he enjoyed playground

Tues - ran in Pioneer park for 15 minutes before meeting Matt for Jazz game, they lost to efficient shooting Mavs by 10, then ball where played on winning team for most part 2 miles

Wed - tired fr swamp coolering, long sleep, Thu - biked for maybe 5 then ran once around block, last w/o b4 duathlon, then ball where we had 4 vs 5 then 5s w/ Steve, only lost one game, made a few fast breaks at end where wisdom and hustle beats youth, missed a few reverses; 2 m

My overall time was 1:44:43 http://www.runnercard.com/runner/data/29147/5489/Result/Long_Course_Duathlon(M)-Overall.htm

To be fair, I'm sure at least 3 more people beat me since there was a bike course snafu, including Katy Cargiulo who's national class, she beat me on the 2nd run by 1 minute! Started just behind her and passed about 7 watching her put some distance on me doing the same. Got passed by 2 on the bike (guys w/ jet helmets). Almost missed the bike course turn myself, had to make a U-turn and get on track. Pushed it coming back into the wind, good stuff cuz I thought we were ag the wind but it felt good to open up on the way back. Played a little cat and mouse w/ a guy ahead of me before putting him in my rearview. Felt so good to feel good on the bike, not like the inner thigh/soft seat catastrophe last time. Looking back maybe I could have gone faster, really don't know what $1000 bike could do. Got passed by another jet helmet towards the end, dodging short coursers. Relaxed and stretched coming into transition. Killed the transition (1st) cuz I'm already wearing my shoes (toe-clip advantage). Passed 4? on the run, I'm a runner after all. Got 1st in my age, pretty sure that's legit.

Was happy w/ this race. Much stronger than last time w/ an actual 5K this time. What else to say, could I be a decent triathloner? Maybe if I got a gym membership and swam.

While I place the Bible as inspired Scripture as opposed to all other writings, I've recently found some beauty In Mosiah 15:10–13 he comments specifically on Isaiah 53:10 and concludes that believers are the seed of Christ, namely, “whosoever has heard the words of the prophets ... all those who have hearkened unto their words, and believed that the Lord would redeem his people, and have looked forward to that day for a remission of their sins…” Furthermore, “these are they whose sins he has borne; these are they for whom he has died, to redeem them from their transgressions.”

Jesus died for all, those who believe on Him are His seed, His children. Peace
