I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:

10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger

It's a tough scale.

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
  • Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
  •  Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
  • Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
  • Be a competitive Master's runner

Personal:

Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.

Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism.

w/u on wood chips, very low key race, got Phin taken care of w/ Tricia and started under the banner. 2 HSrs and 30s guy and I caught up to a fellow runner with cap and ran beside him. Told him we'd cruise the first lap and catch them the second. We did cruise and one HSr in black shorts was beating the one in green and being tracked by the 30s guy. We hit the joggers around the top of the park and I ran more in the road, seeing how the amateurs ahead were dodging the crowd. Easily pulled away from cap partner, I told him I'd won a race the week before and the 2nd guy ran 21:00, that's what he ended up running!
The leaders were 50 yards on me, the green HSr stopped to tie his shoe, and then I was third. When we got on the S side I started to run on the walkway and dodge runners, I was a little surprised at how hard it felt, but a race is a race, pulled alongside them on E side and 30s guy let me go, HSr didn't know where the finish was so I told him, he then confided that he felt like throwing up. So I courteously kicked it home down the finish road.
Won a raffle prize too! Bees tickets, played in park with P man and then lunch w/ Kyle and disc golf and helped Mark move his stuff in my basement.

2 Cor 5:21 "He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him."

Simple enough verse, what does it mean? God the Father Accepted God the Son's perfect rightousness so we can be holy and be with God forever. Only God could bridge the gap between human and divine. It's not my works or effort, it's my belief in Him, the sent one, Jesus. Amen
