I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:

10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger

It's a tough scale.

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
  • Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
  •  Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
  • Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
  • Be a competitive Master's runner

Personal:

Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.

Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism.

Sun - some soreness but biked to disc golf and played the course, more people than I've ever seen, skipped around and shot pretty well, 2m run, bike 2.5m

Mon - ran to course and played, 3.5m

Tue - went on a 50 min long run taking canal roads, ran to end of Bangerter and crossed it, sat on the wall for a while and ran home, then ball, won a lot cuz Joe was shooting lights out being guarded by Bob (old and slow and talk), a little drained 5m medium hard

Wed - more sore than I've felt in a long time, should have ran it out but didn't

Thu - still feeling sore but played ball with Wendell's crew, granddaughter and two boys, just being the smart semi-athletic effective one

Fri - ran to Janet's house for lunch, really windy, never got into a rhythm, needed to run more to feel that, 4.5m

Sat - awesome 3 sport episode, biked to 6200 S, still a glitch in the bearings, dropped off bike at Methodist church, ran around to Jr. High and Valley Park, came back and joined some pre-teens and 2 young adults for soccer, scored 2 goals and played goalie, then ran back to bike and cruised home, 2 hr excursion, B - 6m R - 3m
