I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:

10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger

It's a tough scale.

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
  • Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
  •  Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
  • Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
  • Be a competitive Master's runner

Personal:

Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.

Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism.

Mon-?

Tues-pretty sure I ran some while P slept, good ball after Holiday break, was challenged by big man, he resorted to hard foul, won when got on lefty's team. 2.5 m

Wed-ran in gray sweats and black high tops, had some chafing, had to cut it short. S hood above Phillips,  ball at 7th W ward, new group, played zone, impressed w/ jump shot, good group; 2 m

Thu-found nice canal loop from T park thru end houses, popping out driveway to 54th, then hopping fence of a dead end to run thru hood. 4 m

Fri-skiing at the Bird, w/ Leah, then alone til 2:30, Gadzoom all day, got lots of runs, then w/ cousins, 48-54 mph

Sat-fast 1/2 mile late nite blowout, some strides. Read Ed Veisturs book abt 14 8000rs, motivated to do more full body workouts and push the limits

Sun-porter rockwell trail out past 2.5. A plumber's run, blowing out the pipes from a system that hasn't run in 3 days. 5.5m

Tues-some disc golf by dusk-light. Then changed shoes and ran fr/ church to T-ville rec, some pull-ups and back. Feel unmotivated, maybe 5 mile tempo on Sun. took more out of me. Played ball well, won some close games, feel more in control as a guard. Wed-didn't make it out
