I rank somewhere between the competitive recreational runner and the competitive highschool runner. Here's the scale:

10 - World record holder; 9 - Olympic Athlete; 8 - National elite; 7 - Professional runner; 6 - College All-american; 5 - College runner; 4 - Local elite; 3 - Competitive runner; 2 - Recreational runner; 1 - Jogger

It's a tough scale.

Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Run for fun and health, be fit in my 40s
  • Run a strong half marathon, under 1:25, good, under 1:20, great.

Long-Term Running Goals:

  • Be a disciplined runner, to be competitive in my age category, and feel strong while racing.
  •  Somehow actually put together a full year of running: increased discipline and decreased distraction and injuries
  • Be a 17/36 guy for 5K/10K (not realistic now)
  • Be a competitive Master's runner

Personal:

Spoken for, Christian, piano player, soli deo gloria, at least that's the ideal. Living for Triune God, beautiful wife, cute sons, self; hopefully in that order but Adam's nature and my own choices, not to mention worldly temptations like to play with the ideal.

Idealism, tempered by reality, with a healthy skepticism.

Foot was hurting Sun, Mon worked on it surprisingly, Tue went to ball, wasn't going to play but put on old Blues and went for it. Foot pain in stretched right arch feels like muscle soreness needing to be exercised. Managed to play well in spite of it, told by baldy that I'm always in the right position, focused on screening, some rushed shots, some posting up

Wed - ball again, good defense skills (when I can stop); bowled bearded general and Dallon over once, got in Dallon's head a little (he eyed me while making his midrange) 1.5

Thu - too tired, work going well, constant hand work, today was off, fellowship dinner with Brad and Judy,

Fri - biked past Thorin's to 56W then Mt View to 47S and company, beautiful Fri night-time journey, this is life and glory and peace. Scary going downhill on trail back N. Tacked on 40W to 54S and looked at construction, fell at overlook banging right knee and palm, glorious clarifying pain. 1:15 out, 4m

Sat - biked w Nate to T-ville courthouse hood loop, 1 hr, Nate was tired and said he would have walked, had run 2 1/2 hrs over previous days, quick uptick at Redwoods cemetary, too much BBQ chips and ice cream in preparation for Superbowl victory by Eagles ;-)
